Enthusiastic tutor looking for a variety of students!
Scribes were important to Sumerian and Egyptian life because they were the only group of people taught to write! What would this mean for society? They became the record-keepers, memory-keepers, and more. They were able to record daily life of the average person AND of the government decisions (think about money transactions and trades). Because of scribes, in modern day society, we can read how they celebrated holidays, held traditions, and even went to the bathroom! Being a scribe was an impressive job in early Sumerian and Egyptian life.
Let me know if you need more specific examples or if I should go more in-depth.
Good luck!
