IF the problem is 2/(x + 2) _ 2 then you could make a
x + 1 x + 2
common denominator of (x + 1)(x + 2). So to do that, you would have to multiply the left expression by (x + 2), and the right one by (x + 1).
Now we have 2(x+ 2)/(x + 2) -- 2(x + 1)
(x + 1)(x + 2)
This simplifies to 2 - 2x - 2 = -2x
(x + 1)(x + 2) (x + 1)(x + 2)
Restrictions: x cannot = -1, -2
