I believe you are looking for the slope of y=4x-23.
m=4; Point is (7,5)
(7 is the x1, 5 is the y1)
The formula for slope is y-y1=m(x-x1)
y-y1=m(x-x1)
y-5=4(x-7)
y-5+5=(4(x)-(4)(7))+5
y=4x-28+5
y=4x-23
Check: y=4x-23 Points: (7,5) , (0,-23) & (23/4,0) 23/4=5.75
y=4x-23
y=4(7)-23
y=28-23
y=5
(7,5)
y=4x-23
y=4(0)-23
y=0-23
y=-23
(0,-23)
y=4x-23
0=4x-23
0+23=4x-23+23
23=4x
23/4=4x/4
23/4=x
x=23/4
x=5.75
(23/4,0) or (5.75,0)
Then you can graph it on graphing calculator and on paper with these
