I was given this worksheet in class and my professor refuses to explain it to us. I need help!!
For the given sample: Wooden cube (rectangular).
Measure its mass in grams = 171 grams.
Find its volume in cm³. Measure length, width, and height in cm.
Volume = length x width x height
= (7.5 cm) x (3.8 cm) x (7.5 cm) = 213.75 cm³
Density = mass/volume = 171 grams/213.75 cm³ = 0.8 grams/cm³
Remember: cm = c.c. = ml
AGAIN
Find its mass in kg = 0.171 kg.iko
Find its volume in m³. Measure length, width, and height in meters.
Volume = length x width x height
= (.75 m) x (.038 m) x (.075 m) = 2.13 x 10^-4 m³
Density = mass/volume = 0.171 kg/0.000213 m³ = 800 kg/m³
Now find the density of the given irregular shape object. You need to use water displacement method to find its volume. Use a graduated cylinder. Find its mass as before.
Volume = 10 ml = 10 cm³
Mass = 60.5 grams
Density = mass/volume = 60.5 grams/10 cm³ = 6.05 grams/cm³
or,
Density = mass/volume = 6.05 kg/.000001 m³ = .00000605 kg/m³
Now: Express the density in for both the wooden cube and irregular object in
Slug/ft³
?
lb/inch³
