Write the point-slope form of the line's equation satisfying the given conditions. Then use the point-slope form of the equation to write the slope intercept from the equation.

The formula is (x,y) is y-y1=m(x-x1)

Point slope form is:  y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)

So we plug in the point we were given, and use the slope, m:

 

y -5 = 4(x - 2) ANSWER

 

Now: y - 5 = 4x - 8,

 

so:         y = 4x - 8 +5  

 

so:        y = 4x - 3 ANSWER

The slope is already given.  So far, the equation of the line is

 

y = 4x + b

 

 

Now, we just plug in the coordinates into the equation to find the value of b.

-3 = b

 

 

The equation of the line is
