what is the slope? i came up with 17/0. is that 0?

17/0 is undefined, as is any number that is divided by zero. For the level of mathematics you're in right now, this is the accepted answer.

What you did to get 17/0 is correct but that doesn't equal 0, 0/17 = 0. When you get a 0 in the denominator your slope is undefined.

17/0 means undefined term  and not equal to zero,which shows that the line passing through two points is

parallel to y-axis

Anytime you calculate a slope and end up with zero in the denominator, it means that the line that passes through the 2 points is a vertical line.
