If a line never passes through the y axis, therefore having no y intercept, it must be parallel to the y axis, or a vertical line. It is also true that this line is perpendicular to the x axis.
If a line never passes through the x axis, therefore having no x intercept, it must be parallel to the x axis, or a horizontal line. It is also true that this line is perpendicular to the y axis.
