Algebra World Problem.

Sarah took the advertising department for her company on a round trip to meet with a potential client. Including Sarah a total of 17 people took the trip. She was able to purchase coach tickets for $330 and first class tickets for $1220. She used her total budget for airfare for the trip, which was $12,730. How many first class tickets did she buy? How many coach tickets did she buy

its 8 coach tickets and 8 first-class tickets because there is a total of 16 people and that includes Sarah.

For this particular problem, you should use a total of 17 people---Sarah has to buy a ticket for herself as well!

I think it is supposed to be 16 because it said including her. If it said something like Sarah and 16 people then you would add Sarah, but it says including Sarah.

For a problem that says "16 people and Sarah" or a problem that says "17 people including Sarah" (like this one), the total number of tickets would be 17. The problem tells us Sarah is included in the total of 17 so that we don't use 17+1.
