Your first step is to determine how much salary she makes a month. Since you know the yearly salary, divide by 12 to get the monthly salary. Then subtract that from 6000. Now you know how much she needs to make in commission for this month. At this point you have done 48,000÷12 = x. Then 6000 - x
Now you are basically figuring out (answer from step 1) is 4% of what number. You can solve this as a proportion. 4 is to 100 as (answer from step 1) is to final answer. If you write this as equivalent fractions, you have 4 over 100 = (answer from step 1) over (unknown).
