Richard has an unknown quantity of apples (A). Kayla also has some apples. She has 25% more apples than Richard

 

A) Write an expression that represents how many apples Kayla has

 

B) If Richard has 48 apples, How many apples does Kayla have?

Let K = number of apples Kayla has 

 

She has 25% more than A ==>  K = 1.25*A

 

If A = 48 then K = 1.25*48 = 60
