To add fractions with different denominators, you first have to find a common denominator. To do this you multiply the denominators together.
3 x 2 =6, the common denominator
Now you have to do the same with the numerator. You multiply the numerator by the denominator of the 2nd fraction
2 x 2 =4, the new numerator of the 1st fraction
1 x 3 = 3, the new numerator of the 2nd fraction
Now we have (4/6) + (3/6) = 7/6, since you just add the numerators because you have a common denominator
7/6 = 1(1/6), These are same number
