Mac's hotel had 128 rooms and 25% of the rooms in the hotel did not have an ocean view.

 

Part A: Write an expression to find the total number of rooms in the hotel that had an ocean view 

 

Part B: Mac stated that 103 rooms in his hotel had an ocean view. Explain why Mac is correct or incorrect 

 

 

Answer 1

100% - 25% = 75%

75% = 0.75

So:

128 * 0.75

or:

128 * 3/4

 

128 * 3 / 4

simplified a little:

32 * 3 = 96

 

Mac's statement is incorrect. 103 is not 75% of 128.
