Kick off ISEE upper level prep

Question

My daughter is preparing to take the ISEE test in Fall 2026, we will start her prep this summer. What would you suggest is the right approach to take to have a 15 month prep period? How would you break down the studying?

I always recommend clients split their tutoring time and dollars with specialists in each subject area. For ISEE, specifically - one tutor to cover Verbal Reasoning / Reading Comprehension and an other tutor to cover Quantitative Reasoning/ Mathematics Achievement. Few people need equal help in both, and tutors do have their specialties. Most any tutor can go over answers with a student - but I think you would want a tutor that can go deeper, analyze the student's work in a broader stroke and strike at the fundamentals that overarch many individual questions to help the student make more significant and longer lasting progress overall. That's the benefit of a specialist. That targeted help will serve you better - you are in control, taking sessions only as you need them, from the best qualified person for each area.

It is wonderful that you are planning for extended test preparation. With that much time, I would recommend focusing on one area at a time, going deeper and into more difficulty. That said though, I would supplement that with the essay writing so her skills and objectives would grow and always vocabulary reviewing because there is no limit to the number of words with which a student can be familiar.
