Hi Bree,
This depends on the nature of your eight questions. Are they categorical/binary--i.e. yes/no? If so, mean, median, and mode are not usually appropriate. Are they quantitative-- asking about, for instance, an approval rating from 0 to 100? If so, you can compute mean, median, and mode, or perhaps modal range (50-59, etc.).
As for how to create, mean is average--total all quantitative responses and divide by 10. Median is value directly in the middle. For a 10-person sample, this is halfway between position 5 and position 6. You would just add those two values and divide by 2. Mode is the value or class that occurs the most. If you ask your ten people to rate on a 1-10 scale, your mode would be the most frequent number given. If you ask for ratings on 0 to 100 scale, it might be more appropriate to assign modal range--i.e; 50 to 59. I hope this helps.
