The horizontal distance from A to B is 14 - 5 = 9. 2/9 of 9 is 2. Horizontally moving from A towards B 2 units means the x-coordinate of the target point is 5+2 = 7.
Moving in a vertical direction from A to B is a distance of 16 - 7 = 9, and once again 2/9 of 9 = 2.
Moving from A to B vertically a distance of 2 units results in 7 + 2 = 9.
So the point on the segment AB that is 2/9 of the total distance from A to B is (7, 9). Using the technique is based on similar triangles.
