There are various ways to answer this problem. Two approaches are shown below.
pH + pOH = 14
pH = 14 - pOH
pH = 14 - 5.48 = 8.52
Now that we have the pH, we can find the [H+] since pH = -log [H+]
[H+] = 1x10-8.52
[H+] = 3.02x10-9 M
[OH-] = 1x10-5.48 = 3.31x10-6 M
[H+][OH-] = 1x10-14
[H+] = 1x10-14 / 3.31x10-6
[H+] = 3.02x10-9 M
NOTE: both of the above calculations ignored the autoionization of H2O. If you are in a more advanced Chem. class, you might want to include this factor.
