Use linear regression to find the equation for the linear function that best fits this data. Round both numbers to two decimal places.
Write your final answer in a form of an equation =+.
| x | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 |
| y | 70 | 89 | 115 | 133 | 160 | 183 |

Hi Emma,
It is best to use either a graphics calculator (TI-80s series) or statistical software for this question. In a TI-83--and 84 is similar--enter the x-data points into L1 and the y data points into L2. This is STAT-EDIT--you will be given lists. Then, go to STAT-Calc-2-Var Stats--enter 2nd-L1, 2nd-L2. This gives your regression equation in the form y = ax +b:
y^ = 22.74x + 45.40
I hope this helps.
