Yes! I've been working with Dyslexic students for more than 30 years. I understand the complexities, frustrations, and uniqueness of the individual learner. My focus is often on building confidence and helping students to recognize their strengths. Dyslexics are fun, creative, and a joy to support. Yes! Teaching reading and writing is my passion; working with struggling readers is my specialty. BLS, the dyslexia program used, incorporates both reading and writing, including handwriting. I also create games and activities according to the concept being studied to reinforce learning. . . and for fun!! Games are one of the best ways to get concepts to "stick"!

I have also been the resident dysgraphia expert on my campus for the past 5 years. Dysgraphia is considered "a unicorn"---comprised of difficulty in spelling, handwriting and written composition. However, the weaknesses in each of the aforementioned areas vary according to the student. I find it fascinating!!! I have studied dysgraphia on my own, read books, purchased many different "tools" and have recently completed a training entitled, "All about Dysgraphia"---I knew more about the subject than the instructor!!!
