Hi Yolanda,

Try this out with a small sample size. If you have three test scores of 75, 80, and 85, these average to 80. Now add 3 to each score and take the mean.

New Scores: 78, 83, 88

New Mean= (78+83+88)/3

New Mean = 83

It also holds for 5 test scores and should hold for n test scores. I hope this helps.
