Brian's kite is flying above a field at the end of a 65 m of string. If the angle of elevation to the kite measures 70 degrees, and Brian is holding the kite 1.2 m off the ground. How high above the ground is the kite flying?

Draw a right triangle with hypotenuse 65, vertical side x, and measure of the angle formed by the hypotenuse and horizontal side 70°.

sin70° = x / 65

x = 65sin70° = 61.1 m

Height of kite above ground = 61.1 m + 1.2 m = 62.3 m
