Learning to dance builds confidence because it changes mindset by increasing self-efficacy (the belief in one's ability to succeed). As people gain physical control, coordination, and grace, they develop a stronger, more positive body image, leading to increased confidence. As an instructor, I focus on celebrating small wins. Over time, all those small wins really add up. They show people they can do more than they expect if they set their minds to it.

Dance gives you a medium to express yourself and allows you to get lost in that dance. There is always more to learn or to improve upon and showcasing those skills builds confidence.

- Dance is another form of communication: it teaches you how to listen, synthesize information and successfully use nonverbal communication with partners.
- It gives you an opportunity to express your true self and experiement with different personas and characters
- Dance is a skill building opportunity. You're presented with challenges that may take a long time to overcome (doing a split, achieving high kicks/leaps). Dancers feel great pride when they meet their goals and have a point of reference for success that translates into other areas of their lives.
