I am not sure why this is listed under Italian, but this question can be solved in two ways, one uses equations and proportions and the other uses systems of equations.
Method 1.
Set up a proportion.
40 : 10 = 3g : xg
This proportion can be solved for x by remembering that in a proportion the product of the external values is the same as the product of the internal values.
40•xg=10•3g
x=30g/40g
x=0.75
Method 2.
Set up a system with two equations in two variables, x and g.
40=3g
10=xg
We can rewrite the first equation as g=40/3, then substitute the value of g in the second one, to find the value of x.
10=x•(40/3)
x=10•3/40
x=30/40
x=7.5
