The plane objects are two-dimensional objects because the position of their any point is given by two coordinate numbers. If we ignore the thickness for a thin cardboard, each of six facets of the box is a two-dimensional rectangle. The rectangle is described by the lengths of two adjacent sides. They are often called the length and width of rectangle.
Length and width could be measured in meters or inches. To calculate the surface are of the rectangle you multiply the length and the width.
