2). When n = 3, there are NINE orbitals:
1 s orbital + 3 p orbitals + 5 d orbitals
3). The maximum number of electrons in the n = 3 shell is 18 electrons:
2 electrons in the s + 6 electrons in the p + 10 electrons in the d = 18 elelctrons
