I used a tutor for one session, but don't need him anymore and want to cancel. I already sent him a message telling him so, is there anything else I need to do?

Most tutors don't have more than like 24 hours cancellation notice, so you don't need to do anything else. In fact, it was courteous but not even necessary to let them know you didn't need them.
