If you give numbers to the values p and q it can be easier to solve.
Say p = 2, therefore if p = q, q must also equal 2
- By doing p – s = q – s, it is subtraction not addition, so you can eliminate this answer choice.
- The same thing can be done for p · s = q · s, since it is multiplication.
- By just stating p = q, there's been no operation that was done, so eliminate this choice as well.
- Finally p + s = q + s will give you equality on both sides of the equation and show that is it through addition. Therefore If p = q, then p · s = q · s is the correct choice.
