here is how to create formula
(1/4)point=(1/4)(d-c)+c
saying the 1/4 point between c and d is (1/4) of the distance from c to to d, and add to c
(1/4)point=((d-c)/4)+(4c)/4
(1/4)point=(3c+d)/4
c=-9, d=7 (1/4)point=-5
using same procedure
(1/2) point=(c+d)/2
(1/3)point=(2c+d)/3
(1/5)point=(4c+d)/5
it is not intuitive that for something that begins as a subtraction becomes in
the formula addition.
for (2/7)pointcd=(2/7)(d-c)+(7c)/c
=(5c+2d)/7

CD is on a number line
>----C------------------D-------->
Where C is a point and D is a point.
>----C----E------------D-------->
Where CE is (1/4) of CD.
>----C------------------D-------->
-9. 7
The length of CD is 16, or [-9+7]
E=(1/4)16 = 4
(1/4) of CD is 4.
Point E=4
