CDE is a equilateral triangle and ABCE is a square with an area of 1. What is the perimeter of the polygon ABCDE?

 

All sides of an equilateral triangle are the same. A square with an area of 1 is adjacent to this triangle. A side of the square is a square root of 1 = 1. Thus a side of the  triangle is also 1.

The figure is a square with a triangle on the top. This poligon has 5 sides (a pentagon). Each side of the pentagon equals 1 unit, five sides equal 5 units.
