How would you write 5.14 as a mixed fraction?

I'm in 10th grade and in Geometry. I need help with how to write 5.14 as a mixed fraction. I've tried 5 14/100 and 5 7/50, but those were wrong. Can you help me get the answer right?

you have it right !!!
a mixed fraction is a whole number and a fraction combined into a mixed number
5.14=5 14/100=5 7/50
the only other thing you can do is write 5 7/50 as an improper fraction, 257/50

And you should ask the person who told you it's wrong to "pronounce" 5.14 correctly.
 
If they say "five point fourteen," ask them what the "point fourteen" means.
 
If they say "fourteen one-hundredths," they will have just proved that you're right.
 
If they say "fourteen percent," remind them that this means "fourteen out of one hundred," and that they've proved you right again.
 
If they say, "um, it's just... five point fourteen," then we can only pray that the person is not your teacher!
 
14/100 is correct, and simplified to 7/50 is even better.
