Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
A
1st choice of the 4 choices
expected value of a random variable can = any number, positive, negative or zero
(but expected probability of a random variable can never be negative)
It's a free country, with liberty and the pursuit of happiness & justice for all, and very pro choice, but if you choose B,C or D, points off. Just reality, by random chance you have a 25% chance on this question, even if you know zero about expected values or random variables
Expected grade on this question is 25%, unless there's points off for wrong answers, not just zero. such as negative one point for a wrong answer Then Expected grade is a weighted average of (1-1-1-1)/4 = -2/4 =- 1/2= -50%, lower than the usual lowest grade, a very negative score. Not a grade you want to take home to mother. Or have your political opponent bring up in a tight race for office, in an October surprise. Worse your actual grade could be -1 =-100%, a very evil grade, deeper down than 6 feet under.
