SrF2 is the salt formed from a strong base, Sr(OH)2 and a weak acid HF. A solution of this salt will therefor have a basic pH (>7).
SrF2(aq) <==> Sr2+(aq) + 2F-(aq)
F-(aq) + H2O(l) <==> HF + OH- .. equilibrium equation for base that exists when salt is dissolved
Note: formation of a weak acid (HF) and a STRONG base (OH-), makes the solution basic.
