Midpoint finding

if R is the midpoint of QS. RS = 2x-4. ST = 4x-1 and RT = 8x-43. Find QS

Q ----------R-----------S--------------T

Hope this little drawing helps with the explaination.

Dayv O.

QS=2*RS=8x-8.,,,but something is wrong,on one hand QT=QS+ST=8x-8+(4x-1)=12x-9. On the other hand, QT=QR+RT=2x-4+8x-43=10x-47. Equating QT=QT, x=-19 which means the line segments are negative in nature -- something is wrong.
