Without a diagram, it seems difficult to answer this question, but you don't have a lot of options, so here's what I think:
If the rods are placed end-to-end to make a longer rod in the diagram, then it is the "segment addition property", or in this case, the addition property.
All the addition properties--of segments, angles, etc.-- state that if you add two smaller things together, the equal the measure of the big thing.
