A drawing with the scale of 3 cm for each meter shows where Adam wants to plant flowers. If the actual distance of the flower planting is 25 m long, how long is the scale distance on the drawing?
SCALE
1 m = 3 cm
fraction = (1 m) / (3 cm)
WRITE UNKNOWN AS VARIABLE
x = scale distance (cm) on drawing
SET UP PROPORTIONAL EQUATION
(25 m) / x = (1 m) / (3 cm)
CROSS OUT meters in numerator of both fractions
25 / x = 1 / (3 cm)
CROSS MULTIPLY
1(x) = 25 (3 cm)
x = 75 cm
