Gunning calculations are related to ballistics, or the calculating of weapon munitions such as bullets, rockets, etc. When determining the range or distance of a projectile there are several things to take into consideration to determine the calculation including:
Trajectory - which is the path the projectile follows and can be impacted by the line of sight and distance to the impact point.
Wind drift - this is the lateral deviation of a bullet's trajectory from the original line of departure caused by crosswind.
Recoil - also known as "kickback" this is the force of backward movement once the bullet or projectile is discharged
Velocity - this is typically referring to "muzzle velocity" which is the speed of the projectile (bullet, shot, etc.) in relation to the muzzle at the moment it is discharged from the barrel. There is also what is known as a ballistic limit or "limit velocity" which is the velocity or speed required for the projectile to penetrate a material or substance.
Accuracy - quite simply, it's the ability to hit exactly the target one is aiming at with precision - and repeatedly.
Hope this helps!
