A flag pole is 30 ft high. It is casting a 40 ft shadow. How many inches are there from the top of the flag pole to the end of the shadow?

This is Pythagorean Theorm.

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

30^2 + 40^2 = c^2

You may recognize this as a 3 - 4 - 5 triple. In any case c = 50 ft.

Now multiply by 12 to get inches and the answer is 600 inches.
