Here you must use the point slope form. y - y1 = m(x - x1). So do y + 4 = -2(x + 5). Then factor the 2 into 2x + 10 and subtract four from both sides. y = 2x + 6. You can check this by substituting -5 for x and seeing if y = -4. y = 2(-5) + 6. y = -10 + 6, y = -4, so indeed y = 2x+6 is the correct answer!

Since the slope, m = -2, is given, the answer must be: y = -2x - 1411/18/22
