Helping students of all ages achieve their "A-ha!" moment since 2008.
When given a triangle and two of the three side lengths, this often means using the Pythagorean Theorem to solve for the unknown value.
Pythagorean Theorem: A2 + B2 = C2
If A = 100, B = 79, and C =?, then we plug in the values for A and B, so we can solve for C.
(100)2 + (79)2 = C2
Square the values, combine like terms, and then take the square root of both sides in order to solve for
C.
