The base angle of an isosceles triangle is five more than twice the vertex angle. What is the base angle?

I don’t understand 4A + 8 +A/2 =90. It looks like if you are dividing both sides of the Equation by 2 then that would yield 2A + 5 + A/2 = 90 instead according to PEMDAS? Just wanted to know if I missed something on the interpretation or if there was just a typo?
