Technology has affected the real estate business by allowing faster service and extending our reach to acquire leads. Technology like Docu-sign and e-signature sites allow us to upload documents for easy and quick delivery to our clients instead of having to meet them in person. E-signatures and e-documents are considered legal and original, so they comply with license, contract, and agency law requirements. Text and email allow us to respond to client and service provider questions quickly when we are not able to make a phone call. Social media platforms and electronic advertising allow us to reach many more contacts and potential leads than we used to with door knocking and cold calling. Technology has improved the business in many ways, but it has also created an instant gratification mindset of the part of the consumer. When contacted by the consumer, a real estate broker must respond quickly to gain the lead or that consumer will move on to the next broker to fulfill their real estate needs. It is imperative that a real estate broker take full advantage of technology to have the best chance of being successful in this business.
