In a 2 x 2 contingency table, each row and each column should add & equal the total. In this table you are always given the total, so to find the missing number, simply subtract the number in the column (or row), with the column's (or row's) total e.g. 3925-1909=2016. Then you can even check your work by adding the 2 numbers in the column (or row) that was also just completed, to make sure it's equal to the total of that other row or column(e.g. 2016+4125=6141. In other words, since it's a 2 x 2 table with only 1 missing number in any row or column, when you complete Grand Total cell. you can either add the 2 numbers in the last column or last row (you should get the same answer for both.
