1% would be considered to be a moderately large daily jump. It’s not totally out of the realm of normality but still is fairly large.
5.5% though is an extraordinarily large number and indicates a substantial amount of volatility. Lending Tree must be going through something internally that is causing such a significant swing in a single day.
The best way to tell if these values are large would be to compare to the historical movement of the overall market or the particular stock and to see how it compares.
