QS = QR + RS -- segment addition postulate

QS = x + 10 + 8 -- QR = x + 10 and RS = 8

QS = x + 18 -- equation 1

QS = 7x -- equation 2 -- give information

7x = x + 18 -- from equation 1 and 2

-x -x -- subtract x from bothsides

6x = 18

x = 3 -- divide by 6 on bothsides

QS = 7x -- equation 2

= 7 (3)

= 21

So, QS = 21.
