You don't have to express density in kg/dL as you can use the density in g/ml and then convert to dL at the end, which is what I will do below.
4.96 kg x 1000 g / kg x 1 ml / 7.86 g = 631.0 mls
Now we convert 631 mls to dL:
631 mls x 1 dL / 0.1 L = 6310 dL (3 sig. figs.)
