When we say "translation," we are referring to movement- shifting something from one spot to another without changing its shape. In your question, we are moving the point (1,2) by the vector (2,5). This is a displacement vector, so (2,5) basically means "move right 2, move up 5." So we can see that the final point will be (1+2, 2+5), yielding an answer of (3,7).
