I also specialize in tutoring neurodivergent students, ensuring that the highest levels of learning are available to everyone; sometimes we just need a little tailored help! I received my A.B. in Chemistry and Physics from Harvard, and have over 350 hours of tutoring experience with a leading premium tutoring service with a 4.9 star rating, at time of writing.

I take pride in tailoring instruction to each student's individual needs, finding the explanations and analogies that 'click' for each student. I specialize in helping neurodivergent students, with conditions including ADHD, Dyslexia, LDs, and OCD. I personally know how hard it can be to learn with these challenges- I am able and eager to adapt my teaching style to best suit your individual needs. I also have extensive experience working with LGBTQ+ students; as a proud transgender woman, I always endeavor to provide a welcoming and affirming learning environment for all.

Over the course of my studies, I have worked in a variety of laboratories, ranging from biophysics to quantum chemistry, both at US and Japanese universities.
I teach a broad variety of subjects at the College and AP levels, readily adapting to each student's individual course contents and needs.

In the past year, I have taught the following, for both Algebra- and Calculus-based courses:

Introductory Physics, Physical Sciences, Classical Mechanics, Special Relativity, Electricity and Magnetism, Waves and Optics, Thermodynamics, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Thermodynamics, Statistical Mechanics, AP Physics 1, 2, C
General Chemistry, AP Chemistry

If you do not see your subject listed above, please send me a message! I have extensive training in subjects beyond these, and would be excited to guide you through them.
If you think that my tutoring might help, let's discuss how I can meet your needs- I look forward to working with you!

My education and training has primarily been in pure and applied Physics and Chemistry, extending to Statistical Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. I additionally have extensive experience in a variety of laboratory settings across fields, rendering me able to communicate effectively between disciplines and make connections across fields. I also have experience teaching a number of engineering students in Mechanics and Thermodynamics, using my pure and applied Physics training to provide perspectives not provided in most engineering classrooms (especially insights gained from the derivation of physical laws, as opposed to rote memorization).

I graduated Harvard University with an A.B. in Chemistry and Physics, with a joint focus in physics topics such as Statistical Mechanics and Quantum Mechanics, as well as chemical topics like Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. This grounding in both the pure and applied aspects of both Chemistry and Physics enables me to help students draw connections between difficult and abstract Engineering concepts (especially in Thermodynamics). Additionally, I have extensive experience in a variety of laboratory settings across fields, which I have used to help make connections with students' practical Engineering experience, to facilitate learning. I have tutored a number of engineering students in Mechanics and Thermodynamics online using these techniques, to great success. I was particularly able to help students apply insights gained from the derivation of physical laws (as opposed to rote memorization), which brought many from a failing course grade to passing.

I am particularly able to help students apply insights gained from the derivation of physical laws (as opposed to rote memorization), a perspective not offered in most engineering courses, and which brought many from a failing course grade to passing.

ADHD

Although my training is formally in Chemistry and Physics, I have moved through mental health spheres for years as I personally struggled with and began to overcome my own OCD, ADHD, and Depression. This has given me great insight into the challenges of learning with ADHD, and has additionally made me very literate in matters of mental health and able to readily adapt to students' individual needs. I have worked with a number of students with challenges ranging from ADHD to Dyslexia, and have helped them not only improve their grades in Physics and Chemistry courses, but also develop tools for future study and methods of understanding/review that work well for them.

Excellent at explaining physics concepts

Jade helped me prepare for a mechanics midterm in a class that I previously felt very lost in. She was fantastic at meeting me where I was at with my understanding of physics, and her approach to the problems was very easy to follow. I left our sessions feeling much more prepared for the exam.

An incredible tutor

I am very grateful we found Jade. Such an amazing teacher and caring and conscientious person. Extremely thorough and a pleasure to work with. Convenient times and helpful notes. Very special.

So kind & super helpful!!

I learned so much from Jade, especially as I was particularly struggling with understanding the underlying concepts, which she explained to me in a way that suddenly made them all make sense!

Very knowledgeable, Quick response time

Extremely helpful! Really thank Jade for helping my kid when we reached out overnight with questions and got them answered in the session.

Sowmiya, 1 lesson with Jade

Knowledgeable and very patient for details and complex concepts

Jade has a pretty amazing ability to relate the problems to real life examples and visuals that are key for those that need different ways of learning and remembering. She also was key in presenting these concepts to me: no matter how many times or different ways we talk about a concept she was going to be there to help get it and that goes a long ways, that is the key to how I want to learn to be a good engineer. Thank you Jade for your help and detailed descriptions and fun examples. Engineering, math and science can be fun even for an adult who forgot all basic concepts from College. Thank you!!!!!

excellence

So blessed to have found Jade for my daughter. Was nervous about her rigorous schedule, but thanks to Jade I know that it is going to be okay.

A kind and through guide.

Jade gave me a tour of the current thinking re measurement and quantification of elemental masses. She also outlined some sub atomic particles, and their charges, and touched on the singular aspect of the electric and magnetic fields. All good fun!

Like Minded People!

Woooh! Best analogies for the most confusing subjects, and crazy cool personality. Life is an ongoing challenge, and you've got a knack for helping others I have now found myself in a better spot with physics where I once found myself giving up. Never, had I better be inspired to take on something so freakishly challenging! You got the heat sis. You rock!

Norma, 19 lessons with Jade

Jade makes it possible to navigate the most challenging material.

Jade has guided my daughter through very challenging IB physics material. My daughter, who initially felt overwhelmed and defeated, now feels calmer as Jade has walked her through the challenges. She just made an A on her most recent test--something that once seemed impossible. I would recommend Jade to anyone. I wish that we had discovered her sooner.
