rate of gas 1 / rate gas 2 = sqrt MW gas 2 / sqrt MW gas 1
Let He be gas 1; MW = 4.00 g / mol
Let Ne be gas 2: MW = 20.18
For He, √4 = 2.00
For Ne, √20.18 = 4.49
Since He is lighter it will effuse faster than Ne.
How much faster? 4.49 / 2.00 = 2.25 times faster
