As mentioned in the above answer, once you recognize that this is a rectangle, you can use the formula (length x width) to find its area. More specifically, I will go into how we can find the length and width of this rectangle.
When graphed, we find that point A is the upper left corner, and point C is the bottom right corner. We can subtract point C's y coordinate (1) from point A's y coordinate (7) to get the y distance between corners, which we will call the width: 7 - 1 = 6
By the same token, we can subtract point A's x coordinate (1) from point C's x coordinate (5), thus length = 5 - 1 = 4.
Once we have these distances, we can plug them into the formula length x width and get 6 x 4 = 24.

When you graph this, it looks like you have a rectangle which is a type of a polygon. Thus we can use the area of a rectangle formula to calculate the area of the polygon.
Area of a Rectangle =. L x W
=. 6 x 4 = 24
