Enzymes are proteins and as such, they are temperature sensitive. If the temperature gets too high, the protein (enzyme) can become denatured. If this happens, it loses its catalytic activity and becomes inactive. Even if it doesn't become denatured, there is an optimal temperature for each enzyme, and once you go beyond that temperature, the catalytic activity will decrease resulting in a drop in the reaction rate.
