A business analyst has many facets depending on what a business needs. There are plenty of google searches that will give you a definition of the role.
However, as senior and highly effective business analyst with more than 15 years in the role, i have contracted directly and successfully with many small and medium sized businesses who simply could not see or understand how data, sales, and trend analysis were vital to drive needed changes to processes, products, services, software and hardware which could not just help improve efficiencies, but also validate their business model and confirm their path to building a profitable business and/or brand awareness.
This is the reason i pursued a Masters Degree with a focus on Organizational Development, you are an agent of change, the eyes within the organization. No matter the size of the company, organization,or whether you are working for a profit or non-profit, the job of an analysts is to demonstrate, through the use of documented facts charted and graphed as necessary to articulate "data-driven" findings. Depending on the role you might work within data sets as you work with other principals in the organization to balance all findings against what's technologically feasible and financially and functionally reasonable.
As you grow confident in the role the more vital you become to the organization.
I look forward to more in-depth discussions in our sessions.
